Explore the spectacular Bale Mountains National Park on a six-day trekking adventure through forests, alpine meadows, waterfalls and the Sanetti Plateau. Search for Ethiopian Wolves and Mountain Nyala, enjoy excellent birdwatching and experience the dramatic highlands of southern Ethiopia.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Addis Ababa – Bale Mountains – Robe

Drive through the Great Rift Valley. Visit the Dinsho area for wildlife viewing, including Mountain Nyala, Bushbuck, Reedbuck and Warthogs. Overnight in Robe.

Day 2
Dinsho – Sodota Camp

6–7 hours trekking. Trek through beautiful mountain landscapes and visit Habera Waterfall. Search for Ethiopian Wolves and endemic birds. Overnight camping at Sodota.

Day 3
Sodota – Wasema Camp

5–6 hours / 15 km trekking. Cross Afro-alpine grasslands and giant lobelia landscapes. Look for Ethiopian Wolves, Giant Mole Rats and highland birds. Altitude reaches about 3,900 m. Overnight camping at Wasema.

Day 4
Wasema – Garba Guracha

7–8 hours / 17 km trekking. Cross Worgona Valley and reach Garba Guracha (Black Lake), one of Ethiopia's highest alpine lakes. Wildlife and birdwatching opportunities. Overnight camping at Garba Guracha.

Day 5
Sanetti Plateau – Tulu Dimtu – Robe

Walk to the main road, then drive across the Sanetti Plateau. Visit Tulu Dimtu at 4,377 m and enjoy spectacular highland scenery and birdwatching. Return to Robe. Overnight in Robe.

Day 6
Robe – Addis Ababa

Drive back to Addis Ababa through the Rift Valley, or take an optional domestic flight subject to availability. End of tour.

We understand that travel plans can change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

- More than 7 days before departure: Refund of the refundable amount, minus any non-recoverable costs such as flights, hotels, permits, entrance fees, and prepaid services.
- 3–7 days before departure: Up to 50% refund of the refundable amount, minus non-recoverable costs.
- Within 72 hours of departure: No refund or travel credit.
- After the tour has started: Used or prepaid services are generally non-refundable.
- Non-refundable services: Flights, accommodation, permits, entrance fees, activities, and third-party services are subject to the supplier's cancellation policies and may not be refundable once booked and paid.
- If Mesob Ethiopia Tours cancels or reschedules a tour due to safety concerns or unforeseen circumstances, guests may choose rescheduling or a refund of refundable amounts, subject to non-recoverable costs.

The Bale Mountains are high altitude and conditions can be cold and changeable. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.
